Contract work and operating a business to count in job seniority – Sejm begins considering bills
On Tuesday, 22 July, the Sejm held the first reading of the government (print no. 1426) and parliamentary (print no. 1404) bills amending the Labour Code and certain other acts.
Both bills provide for the possibility of including periods of work under a contract of mandate or as a sole trader in the length of job seniority. The seniority affects the acquisition of employee rights, in particular, the right to holiday leave. The speaker of the Sejm referred both bills to the extraordinary committee for changes in codifications. The amendments are intended to standardise the rules for determining seniority, regardless of the form of employment, or gainful activity.
