Government plans to implement EU Artificial Intelligence Act
The assumptions of the Artificial Intelligence Systems Act have appeared in the List of Legislative and Programme Works of the Council of Ministers. It is intended to implement the so-termed AI Act, which we wrote about on our portal.
The main assumptions of the bill:
- a new market oversight body for artificial intelligence models and systems will be established - the Artificial Intelligence Development and Safety Commission,
- the Commission will, among other things:
- consider applications for authorisations to market or commission high-risk AI systems,
- consider complaints made by persons subjected to AI systems,
- conduct inspections for breaches of the AI Act (also ex officio),
- where prohibited practices are found, the Commission will be able to impose administrative fines, which will be subject to appeal to courts.
The proposed law could apply to employers as being entities using AI systems with different levels of risk within the meaning of the AI Act.
The Ministry of Digitalisation plans to draft the bill by the end of the year.
