Law on length of service and deregulation to do with documentary notifications to social security officially promulgated

A law changing the calculation of the length of service by which periods of work under a contract of mandate (or other contracts for the provision of services) and operating a business, among others, will be included in a period of employment, has been signed by the president and published in the Journal of Laws.

The law will enter into force on 1 January 2026. However, the amended regulations will apply to private sector employers later, from 1 May 2026. Periods counted in the length of service under the amended rules will be confirmed by certificates issued by the Social Security Institution (ZUS).

The president also signed a law abolishing the obligation to keep paper notifications to ZUS that an employee signed in person when the documents were submitted electronically. The law has been published in the Journal of Laws and will come into force on 4 November 2025.
