New occupational diseases from December 2025.

The Ministry of Health is working on an amendment to the Council of Ministers regulation on occupational diseases, dated 30 June 2009. From 21 December 2025, ovarian and gastrointestinal cancers are to be listed as occupational diseases.

The amendment will enable people diagnosed with one of these illnesses to be recognised as having an occupational disease, which will give them access to benefits, such as one-off compensation or a care allowance.

The amendment aims to implement European Union Directive 2009/148/EC on the protection of workers from exposure to asbestos.
