Share of foreigners on the Polish labour market

According to the latest (published on 9 June 2025) information from Statistics Poland (GUS), more than one million foreigners (1,064,100) were working in Poland at the end of December 2024. Their share in the total number of people working in Poland was thus 6.8%. This means an increase in the number of foreigners working in Poland over the past year by 6.4% (comparing statistics from January and December 2024).

A significant proportion of foreigners employed in Poland were working under civil law contracts. According to GUS, there were 414,300 such workers at the end of last year.

The vast majority of employed foreigners were citizens of Ukraine (about 68%) and Belarus (about 11%). A significant increase in the share of the Polish labour market was recorded for citizens of the Philippines and India (as in 2023), as well as for citizens of Colombia.

Foreigners found employment primarily in the following sectors:

  • administrative and support service, including employment agency work (approx. 218,700),
  • manufacturing (approx. 194,800),
  • transport and storage (approximately 149,200).
