Suspension of border traffic on the Polish-Belarusian border
The Interior Ministry has announced that border traffic between Poland and Belarus will be completely suspended from 12 September 2025. This means that all border crossings - road, rail, and pedestrian, will be closed until further notice.
According to the Ministry, the decision relates to growing threats at the border and issues of national security. The announcement emphasised that this includes counteracting so-called hybrid threats, i.e. actions aimed at undermining the stability and security of Poland.
From 12 September 2025:
- it will not be possible to cross the border with Belarus at any crossing point,
- passenger and freight traffic will be suspended, both for individuals and for the transport of goods,
- visas will not be issued at the border,
- third-country nationals who planned to enter Poland via Belarus must choose alternative routes.
Exceptions to the restrictions may only be granted in particularly justified cases, based on individual decisions issued by the relevant Border Guard authorities.
The border closure came into effect at 12:00 a.m. on 12 September 2025, and remains in force until further notice.
