New Leave for parents of newborns starts today
On March 19 an amendment to the Labor Code comes into effect which provides supplementary maternity leave. The new regulations will permit parents of hospitalized newborns—both premature and full-term—to take additional time off for care.
The leave will last up to 8 or 15 weeks, depending on the condition of a child, and parents will receive full maternity benefits. The new rules aim to compensate for the stress from hospitalization, and support bonding with a child. Applications can be submitted on paper or electronically, along with required medical certificates. We previously mentioned on our website details of this newly implemented regulation.
